Date Night

Had a wonderful date with my Abing thats what I call him..don't ask why!! at Pavilion. We had Pepper Lunch for dinner. It was not great. Read many reviews on how it was so delicious etc but was very upset. Over priced fried rice with choice of chicken, beef or salmon. Nothing great. To be frank, it was dull and tasteless. Did I mention expensive "nasi goreng" = fried rice ?? Just not my cuppa tea.

Oh I bought 5lbs dumbbell from Fitness Concept RM 13.80 each for my work out with Sarah Fit check out my blog roll . And Ikhwan bought new pair of gym gloves. He was so excited. The best part was it took him 20 minutes..no I'm not exaggerating,just to choose a colour and pattern for his gloves. Like as if when he carries the weights in the gym everyone is going to notice his glove pattern and colour. Funny in that way he is. That's why I love him so much! So adorable...In the weirdest things and ways ever!

Anways, we watched Real Steel and it was Awesome with a capital A. Seriously, to those who have not watched it, it's a must-watch movie. Such a cool, interesting action type of movie and so touching. I cried during some parts and Ikhwan was like looking at me weirdly...It is sad!! Trust me. And the fact that Hugh Jackman was acting in it ?? Hamna hamna hamna...That made me cry even harder. I can't touch him and that makes me sad *kidding*..No I am serious...*sigh*

Oooh we had our favourite Pearl Tea too, although we both never order milk tea cause we don't take Milk Tea. We are funny in odd ways.The both of us. But this place in Pavilion,Ochado, at the Tokyo Street Fair has the best Grape Yoghurt Aloe-Vera Pearl drink. Go try it when you are there. And just a reminder to you guys, never I mean NEVER try and suck the Pearls from the straw when there is no liquid left. I almost chocked when 2 pearls flew into my mouth straight into my throat. Ikhwan called me "gelojoh" = greedy !!! Hehehe

I know I would do anything to have a wedding like that in the middle of the woods. Of course it has to be as good as the movie. Not some jungle on our tropical land with mosquitoes biting all the guests. Can you imagine all the insects crawling up the guests? The Nut and Muesli Diet

Obviously my so-called diet plan was not working. And I have 4 months to go!! I think I just grew a new chin!! Oh dear god!! So this is my NEW diet plan and I am so gonna stick to this.After loads of research, I came to find this really fun diet and the best part is, I LOVE the food they ask me to eat.

First things first. On 1st of November 2011 gotta wait for pay-day.Diet food is more expensive ,I will start my DIET...will be starting with a ONE-WEEK ONLY Detox diet.Just to get rid of all the toxin in my body. On this diet I shall eat nothing other than Fruits and Vegetables (steamed). And obviously drink loads of water (2 Litres) a day. And my number 1 no-no for me is SNACKING (it's gonna be so hard) and of course no sugary food.

Then week 2, I shall move on to the 7-DAY Nut and Muesli Diet. Yummy!!! Look at me...diet food also yummy!!Anyway, the Nut and Muesli diet plan is stated as below. Hope this will work.Wish me luck. 

Day 1

Breakfast: 
Large bowl of muesli

Lunch: 
Wholemeal pitta filled with houmous and mixed salad, 1 large peach.

Mid-afternoon snack: 
50g (2oz) unsalted peanuts

Dinner: 
Stir-fry of mixed vegetables and chicken breast, served with rice noodles and a salad of grated raw carrot and chunks of fresh melon sprinkled with a few chopped fresh mint leaves

Evening snack: 
Small bunch of grapes

Day 2

Breakfast: 
2 slices wholemeal toast, 1 spread with 2 tsp peanut butter, the other with a banana

Mid-morning snack: 
Mixture of dried ready-to-eat prunes and apricots

Lunch: 
Large bowl of muesli

Dinner: 
Fillets of plaice pan-fried in a little olive oil and a small knob of butter with any green vegetable, boiled potatoes and tomato and onion salad. For dessert, make a kiwi and mango smoothie. Put chopped peeled mango and kiwi into a blender, add 2 tbsp of thick Greek yoghurt and half a pint of soya milk then whizz till smooth.


Day 3

Breakfast:
Large bowl of muesli 

Lunch:
Ham or cheese and raisin sandwich. Spread a thick slice of raisin bread with a tablespoon of peanut butter, add a slice of lean ham or cheese, top with another slice of raisin bread. Small punnet of strawberries.

Mid-afternoon snack:
Any fresh fruit with a carton of low-fat bio yoghurt. 

Dinner:
Pasta with tuna fish and spring onions. While pasta is cooking according to the packet instructions, put 4 chopped spring onions in a pan with a little olive oil and sweat gently until soft. Drain a can of tuna, flake into pan and continue cooking till warmed through. When pasta is ready and drained, serve in individual bowls adding tuna and onions mixture. You should also eat a large mixed salad drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice and sprinkled with sunflower seeds. Any low-fat bio or fruit yoghurt 


Day 4

Breakfast: 
2 poached eggs, a poached tomato, 2 slices wholemeal bread thinly spread with butter

Mid-morning snack: 
Small pack of mixed nuts and raisins

Lunch:
A large bowl of muesli 

Dinner: 
Chicken with thyme and lemon (recipe included), packet rice, a peach and a ripe pear


Day 5

Breakfast:
Half a grapefruit, peanut butter and banana smoothie. To make this, place 200ml semi-skimmed milk, 1 banana and 2tbsp peanut butter in a blender and whizz till smooth

Mid-morning snack:
Glass of orange juice and an apple

Lunch: 
Large bowl of muesli

Dinner:
Pitta bread pizza (for recipe, read on), a large bowl of chopped raw vegetables with a tsatsiki dip (yoghurt, mint, garlic and chopped cucumber), selection of dried ready-to-eat apricots, dates and walnuts.

Day 6

Breakfast:
Large bowl of muesli

Lunch:
Large bowl of vegetable soup, an open sandwich of a thick slice wholemeal bread, 2 thin slices Edam cheese and 1 sliced tomato. 

Mid-afternoon snack:
Small bag of unsalted peanuts

Dinner: 
Grilled tuna steak with new potatoes, mushrooms and green beans, a green salad dressed with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice dressing. Small punnet strawberries.

Day 7

Breakfast:
Half a grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, 1 thick slice wholemeal toast thinly spread with butter

Mid-morning snack:
Small packet of mixed nuts and raisins

Lunch:
Large bowl of muesli.

Dinner:
Chicken kebab (grilled skewers of alternate cubed chicken breast, red and green peppers, red onion and button mushrooms with satay sauce (for recipe, read on), boiled rice and green salad


Hope I survive the diet. Come on Tas...it's only for 7 days!! On top of this diet, I have promised myself to exercise. And I found a website where the fitness workout can be done in your room within your own privacy! No need to sign up for gym's nor go out-door. I mean come on!! Little Aisyah

It was my little cousin's birthday yesterday and we celebrated it just now at my aunty's place at Damansara. It was so much fun. Aisyah is like the only small kid left in our family for now so, we the big cousins get so freaking excited playing with her and obviously we can't stop giving her huge sloppy kisses.

My aunty baked Martha Stewart's Rainbow Cake for her daughter's birthday.Can you imagine? It took her 3 hours to do it. But you know what? It was totally delicious. So for those of you who wish to try, go ahead. Martha's recipe outcome was a success.And the funny part was everyone ate the cake first after all the "ooohs" and "aaaahs" then we started eating the main food. We were all way too excited once the cake was cut.

Oh My GOSH !!!! I dunno if you guys heard it yet but I literally just found out that KIMORA LEE SIMMONS THE GREAT is coming down to our Kuala Lumpur on November 5th 2011...I am so freaking excited i can't stop tweeting her asking her where she will be and telling her how I want to meet her or I'll die if i don't.

She must be freaked out by my stalker type of tweets. But I MUST meet her!! She is like one of my Idol for successful women. I need to meet her. I have to meet her. I am going insane at my blog also. Sorry guys but its KIMORA...Hello!!!! Who wouldn't want to meet her !!!

Can't imagine how I would react in front of her if I got to meet her even just for 5 minutes. Someone would have to pinch me constantly for weeks to bring me to life. If any of you have any clue on where she will be during her visit in KL please please I'm begging you inform me!! Thank you so much!!

Am having the worst cold and cough ever ! And it suddenly came to my mind. What if this weekend was my engagement / wedding ?? I'm not gonna be on my "pelamin" with runny nose while sneezing and having my make up mess my face...On top of that, I have a pimple on my forehead now! What a way to make matters worst eh?

So i did a little research to help all B2B's on ways to keep themselves healthy at least 1 month before the wedding. And Especially 1 to 2 weeks before the big day. Let it be any big day actually.

1. Eat Well
I know every bride would be on a strict diet. However, that does not mean starvation. Choose healthy food and snacks. Very important to make sure enough of protein and vitamin (especially) is entering their system. Make healthy choices, like opting water instead of soda and exercising


2.Take Walks / Strolls
This help us not only to clear our mind and relieve stress but it helps burn lot of calories if you were not aware. 


3.Practice good posture
Good posture helps us look confident when we walk down the aisle on our wedding day. It also gives you great posture for your wedding photo shoots and avoids back injuries.


4.Eat some Chocolate
Dark chocolates are good for blood pressure. Chocolate also stimulates production of feel-good serotonin, a hormone that can help with stress and ease your moods.


5.Get a Head Massage
Getting your scalp massaged is a relaxing way to take a break from wedding planning. It also stimulate hair follicles, so by doing this regularly, you’ll help yourself to a more beautiful head of hair.


6.Avoid late outings
Staying up late to plan your wedding is one of the worst things you can do for pre-wedding health. By depriving yourself of sleep, you’re at risk for problems like weight gain and an impaired ability to heal. Of course, you’ll probably end up moody and un-focused in the mornings.


7.Take your vitamins
 you’ll need all the help you can get as your body is attacked by stress, diet changes, and beauty routines.Consult your doctor on the right vitamins your body need. Remember every body has different needs so always check with your doctor first before taking any recommendations from your friends.


8.Drink Water
By staying hydrated, you’ll not only help your overall health, but support a more beautiful complexion and even weight loss.


9.Avoid going overboard with Spa visits
One major NO NO is over doing something. Too much of everything destroys you. One major thing many B2B's do is making appointments for Spa and Massages one or two days before the big day. Always keep a time frame of 2 weeks to allow your body to heal. Who knows your last visit to the Spa or Massage might cause some damage. Remember the movie Bride Wars with the tanning and blue hair issue? 


10.Sleep
Don't forget to take at least 8 hours of beauty sleep. They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing ladies!! 


11.Have Fun
A happy Bride is a healthy bride. Nobody wants to be around a Bride-Zilla. Remember that despite the weight of your wedding day, it’s still just one day out of your life. Enjoy the ride and look forward to your newly-wed life with a positive attitude.

Great British Ball 2011

I attended The Great British Ball held at Shangri-La Hotel in KL last Saturday as my company was one of the GOLD sponsors for the event. Each of us were given complimentary tickets worth RM325.00!! The theme was Casino Royale.

Was such a nice outing with my 2 close friends in my office. The 3 of us had a blast !!! The food was delicious. And the table decorations were amazing. Think PINK!


 
It's October...That means it is time to THINK PINK!! Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Yesterday I read the news where Guliana Rancic, TV host of E! News was diagnosed with breast cancer, however, it was detected during the first stage.She discovered she had breast cancer by accident.Lucky her!! Guliana and Bill was going for their doctors appointment for an IVF to help her get pregnant and her doctor insisted she did a mammogram before he starts the treatment.And they detected her cancer.
Not many of us can be as lucky as she was.During an interview with E! by Ryan, Guliana mentioned that she is only 36 and it never corssed her mind to get a mammogram check at this age. But who knew…she found it before it got worst. I am sending out all my love to Guliana & Bill in her recovery process.

But even as for me, I only do self body check after my period. Which I am freaking out a bit now after Guliana's story. Maybe we should all get a mammogram check once a year.Just…in case…. I actually have an aunt,(my dad's sister in law) who died of breast cancer way back ago. She found out about it when it was too late and she never considered undergoing treatment *sigh*  According to the family, she mentioned something about how god only can save her so no use doing treatment etc. (don't really remember the exact words it was like 10 years ago) but still...

It's sad to know someone who knows someone who knows someone who is diagnosed with breast cancer. Especially the ones at stage three. I think every girl, lady or woman should know a thing or two about breast cancer cause "1.3 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 400,000 of them will die. Many of those deaths are preventable through early detection and treatment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is the top cancer in women both in the developed and the developing world." Breast Cancer Welfare Associate 


1 LOOK
Remove all clothing above the waist and look at yourself in the mirror. This should be done in a well lit room.
Check your breasts in 4 positions:
Look for changes in shape, outline, colour and texture of the skin and nipple. Check the position of the nipple and squeeze it to look for any discharge or bleeding.

2 LIE DOWN
Now lie flat on your back with a pillow or a folded towel under the LEFT shoulder. This allows your body to arch and the breast tissue to spread out. Use your right hand to examine your LEFT breast while you place your LEFT hand behind your head. The area from under the collar bone till the bra area must be examined.

3 FEEL YOUR BREASTS
Keep your fingers together and use the flat part of 3 fingers to feel the breasts. Move your fingers in small circles about the size of a 20 cent.
Press gently but firmly, feeling for lumps or thickening of tissue.
Imagine your breast as the face of a clock. Start at 12 o'clock and feel along the boundary till you return to your starting position. Move down a finger's width and repeat in smaller circles till you reach the nipple. Push this aside and feel under and around the nipple. You may find a ridge of firm tissue under the breast. This is normal tissue that helps to support your breast.
Vertical Strip
You may prefer to cover the area to be examined by proceeding up and down in vertical strips.

4 YOUR UNDER ARM AREA
Now move your left arm down to your side. Examine the breast tissue that extends into your armpit.

5 THE OTHER BREAST
Now place the pillow under the RIGHT shoulder and using your left hand repeat the steps on your RIGHT breast.

My Happiest Moment

Ever since 2001, after my elder sister and my cousins from my mother's side (we were close to them) left for university to study, we have NEVER had a complete Hari Raya. Every Raya since 2001 onwards, someone was missing. Either my elder sister, or my cousin or someone. Time flew and more of us were out of the country to study and couldn't come back for Hari Raya holidays.


In 2009, after long 8 years. We had the first ever COMPLETE Hari Raya celebration. Everyone i mean everyone was there. No one was away and couldn't come back to celebrate Raya. And we managed to get a full family photo of the entire family (mom's side) after 8 years. 


That was the happiest moment ever. We were all looking forward to the 1st Raya whereby the family was complete. It was so exciting. Can you imagine celebrating Raya with someone missing? It doesn't sound very full. Just wanted to share my happiest moment with my readers out there.

BOOT-CAMP

My Merisik is on Jan 1st 2012. It's getting really close and I am putting on weight. So to all B2B's out there I am putting myself up for a boot-camp challange. I will start a serious diet with exercise tomorrow and will keep you guys updated on my weekly routine and hey..we can all do it together and be the size we want for our very important day.So let the boot-camp begin!!
 My first step...my daily menu. And this is what I am going to eat for this entire week and feel the change in my body (hopefully I will feel lighter) I aim to lose 3-4 kg per month. *phew*

Breakfast : 1 serving of NESVITA 3in1 Honey Flavour
Lunch: 1 cup of Campbell Mushroom soup with 2 toast
Tea: Nestum with Milk
Dinner : Lean Shake (GNC) with milk + toasted muesli with banana

Let's hope I survive the first week of my strict diet!! And of course I will be doing exercise. Just normal ones that you can do in your own room. 
Sit Ups - 3 sets (20 each)
Lunges- 3 sets (20 each)
Squats- 3 sets (20 each)
Jumps- 3 sets (20 each)

Let us keep it simple for week 1 and feel the change in our body. And remember guys!! Most important thing is WATER. Drink PLENTY of water. I am gonna drink a glass every hour, just to keep my skin hydrated since my diet does not involve meat and vegetable (I am on a serious strict super strict diet as I am out of time)

Baking

I am a freak for baking.I enjoy baking all sort of cakes (cheese mostly and cupcakes) and i do get orders after people eating them *not self praising*. Since I have decided to do a Candy Buffet for my engagement i thought why not make it a candy / dessert table. So this is is where my master skills for baking comes in. As i mentioned in my previous post, I will be trying out home-made macaroons this Saturday (tomorrow) and will post the steps and recipe if they turn out great. 

Will also try experimenting other cool sugary easy-to-make desserts. Bought an awesome chocolate making book which i have yet to try. Will need to do them soon. But for now, I think macaroons will be the first. I have never tried making em' plus,I have not attended any class for macaroons..... so sorry if they turn out like crap.I'm actually looking forward to trying them out. Wish me luck !!
